Since 2015, for more than 17 years, SCALEX SALES has been dealing with the import and export of vegetable tanning agents and has developed into a trading company known far beyond its trading area.
During these years SCALEX SALES has been representing large manufacturers of wattle-bark extracts, chestnut extracts, veterenary producs and other food additive. Company also trades in fruit, bark and some special extracts. In addition to the worldwide trade with vegetable tanning agents SCALEX SALES is dealing with the sales of lignosulphonates.
The product range includes a series of different types, standard qualities as well as special productions. Not only customers from tanneries, but also manufacturers of chemical products, chipboard, herbicides and pesticides agents, fertilisers and animal feed are amongst the clients.

Vegetable extracts
Such as mimosa extract. The application of Mimosa is very common worldwide and it can be modified by mixing with other types of tanning materials to adopt its characteristics to the specific leather type in re-tanning. Valonea extract. The fruit capsules of various types of Mediterranean oak trees (amongst others Quercus valonea) provide the tanning agent. The mature capsules with the scales rich in tannin (known as ‘Trillo’) are mainly harvested in Turkey and Greece from wild growing trees.
Tanning aid products
For examplex SETA SF1 which is an auxiliary filler composed by special organic materials, carefully selected to promote its maximum absorption by the leather. SETA SF1 is used during the retanning process for chrome, vegetable and combination leathers.

Use of tannic vegetable plant extracts of different origin (Mimosa and Quebracho) for a positive impact on the metabolism, also as a natural alternative to antibiotics in animal nutrition.
Tannins
Tannins are phenolic compounds playing an important role in animal feed. They are important antioxidants with a beneficial influence on digestion and the bacterial flora of animals and thus enhance their immune system. One of the most significant features of tannins in this context is their influence on proteolysis.
